Configuring OpenVPN using NetChapChap and importing VPN files to your Mikrotik router
To set up a VPN for your Mikrotik router, you need to create an account on NetChapChap and configure a router in their dashboard:
Go to netchapchap.com and create an account if you don’t already have one.
Navigate to the Mikrotik section in the NetChapChap dashboard.
Click on Add Router and choose a name of your preference for the router (e.g., MyMikrotikVPN).
Press Configure VPN to generate the VPN configuration.
Download the VPN files named after your router (e.g., MyMikrotikVPN.ovpn) from the NetChapChap dashboard.
Upload and import the downloaded VPN files to your Mikrotik router to establish the VPN connection:
Open Winbox and connect to your router.
Go to Files in the Winbox menu and click Upload. Select the downloaded VPN files (e.g., MyMikrotikVPN.ovpn) and upload them to the router.
Navigate to PPP > Interface in Winbox.
Click on OVPN Client > Import .ovpn. Select the uploaded MyMikrotikVPN.ovpn file from the NetChapChap dashboard.
/interface/ovpn-client/import-ovpn-configuration
Click Start to import the .ovpn file. This will create a new OVPN client interface (e.g., ovpn-importxxx).
After importing the VPN files, enable the OVPN interface to establish the VPN connection:
In Winbox, go to PPP > Interface.
Locate the newly created OVPN interface (e.g., ovpn-importxxx).
Click on the OVPN interface and click Enable to activate it.
Verify the connection by checking the PPP > Active Connections menu to ensure the VPN is connected and assigned an IP address.
Note: If the connection fails, check for issues such as incorrect credentials, certificate mismatches, or firewall settings. Ensure TCP port 1194 (or the port specified in the MyMikrotikVPN.ovpn file) is open on your network.
After setting up and enabling the OpenVPN connection, your Mikrotik router should be connected to the VPN server configured via NetChapChap. Proceed to the next step for further configuration or integration with your billing system.
